Supply Capability
Fonlea Orchards produce nine varieties of apples. Red Delicious and Granny Smith were historically the mainstay varieties but in recent years production of these have been overtaken by Royal Gala, Pink Lady, Kanzi, Envy and Modi which are particularly suited to high quality production at Stanthorpe, in Queensland’s Granite Belt.
Measures taken to reduce production risks have assured a regular supply of product despite the occurrence of droughts and hail storms.
Post Harvest Facilities
Fruit is stored and packed in modern facilities located on the Home farm and at Fast Fruit Sales’ packing facility at The Summit. All storage and packing is managed by Fast Fruit Sales personnel.
Fruit grading and packing is performed with a high capacity colour, weight, defect sorter and NIR grader which can be readily packed into cartons, trays, crates, pre-pack or cardboard hat-bins.
Certification
Orchard production and packing facilities meet the Freshcare Version 4.1, HARPS, CSR and WQA quality assurance standards and the further development and conformance to food safety objectives is an ongoing aim of Fast Fruit Sales.
